How Communion Sustains Us

by Myron Moland

Communion helps build a relationship between Jesus Christ and ourselves.  We are bumping into God every morning before we even open our eyes.  We should address his blessings when waking up in the morning and going to bed at night.  We also will have prayers of thanksgiving.  Jesus offers tranquility to believers that start the day and finish their day with communion and Jesus Christ.

I have a plaque on my desk that reads:  “He who kneels before God can stand before anyone.”  A person that goes through the day with that in their back pocket will have very few worries.  In this fast paced world it is important to anchor our lives to Jesus Christ and communion.

During Lent 2011, we are encouraging the St. Philip the Deacon community to reflect on the Sacrament of Holy Communion — recalling early memories, describing memorable celebrations of Communion, or reflecting on how Communion informs daily life. This post is part of that series. We invite your reflections about Communion, as well. If you would like to submit something for this series, please send it to Pastor Cheryl Mathison at cmathison@spdlc.org.
