Lent 2010: Calligraphy in the Narthex

Each Wednesday during this year’s season of Lent, we will install a piece of calligraphy on the glass wall between the Sanctuary and the Narthex. Each week’s artwork will focus on one of the five senses.

We invite you and your children to write on these pieces of art yourself. Write a poem, cite a Bible verse, add a word or draw a picture on the calligraphic “wall” to reflect how you experience God through your senses.

The pieces of calligraphy — each of which focuses on a single sense, along with a Bible verse related to that sense — were designed and completed by Twin Cities artist Janey Westin, who in this video is inking the word “See.”
